A Milwaukee Story
"I know these people. Their stories are my story. The government forgets them — I never will."
I grew up in District 9 — I could see Miller Park from my window. These people are my friends, my family. I know them, their stories, and I know that too often the government forgets them. Politicians forget them. That's why I'm running.
I was raised by a single mom who worked late nights as a nurse, giving care to everyone around her. That's something I carry with me every day. Growing up, we stood in food bank lines and were told we'd be taken care of — and like so many families in this neighborhood, that turned out to be a lie.
I nearly failed out of one of the top schools in Milwaukee. I felt rejected by a system that was supposed to lift me up. It wasn't until I started teaching myself that I realized I wasn't dumb or left behind — the system had failed me, not the other way around. I hope kids in this district look at me and think: If I can teach myself, I can be ready for life, I can make it, my way.
I'm a UPSer at heart. I've been a supervisor for eight years and I love my people. My father is a 30-year Teamster. Our family has given over 50 years to UPS combined. I believe in the blue-collar workers, single moms and families, the dreamers, the fighters, and I will always fight for them to have what they need and for businesses to have the freedom to grow, their lives to prosper with abundance and children who have real futures; futures in Wisconsin.
I wanted to own a food truck — cooking is in my soul, my father worked in restaurants for over 20 years. Then Milwaukee moved to shut food trucks down at 10PM. That decision hurt the most vulnerable small business owners in this city, and everyone knew it. I believe every person, regardless of background, should have the freedom to run their business and set their own hours. Apparently that's a controversial opinion in Milwaukee. It shouldn't be.
My goal isn't to be a career politician. I want to be a philosophy professor someday — ideally at Marquette. But right now, Milwaukee needs someone who will show up, tell the truth, and treat every person in this district with the dignity they deserve. That's what I'm here to do.

Sam has invested in his political education — attending leadership institutes and coalition-building programs to make sure he arrives in Madison ready to deliver results from day one.
